College students are among those who are most likely to participate in music file sharing, since they are at a point in their lives when their passions are up, but their funds are down. College student music file sharers are also most likely to be targeted by the RIAA. Have you heard the riaa no way to track file sharers rumor? It’s partially true, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get caught. For example, the RIAA only had the IP addresses of students at the University of Wisconsin who were potential illegal file sharers. The RIAA had to sue to get those file sharer’s names. However, that doesn’t mean the RIAA can’t get the names or that the students can’t get in big trouble.
